Developing mindful habits starts incredibly small. The truth is, it starts much smaller than most of us are accustomed to focusing and sometimes that might feel silly or ineffective to put energy into something that only takes a few seconds. Certainly we're capable of bigger, more substantial changes, right? And of course it's true, you are. But mastering the tiny moments is an entirely different skillset and making it a practice is what creates tangible changes in the long run. The little things truly do matter the most.
Mindful Reminders : The First Series - Magnets
As shared in the previous post, here, the original concept for these magnets was developed with the intention of making an item that could be stuck in a common work or home space where it would be visible to "remind" us to take a few seconds to come back to center. These are ideal for someone just starting out a mindfulness practice as a beginner, but can be useful and utilized by anyone at any stage of practice. The amount of time spent on each exercise isn't what is important, these are tools to help with the creation of a new habit through repetition. Any of the 3 practices can be done for 3 seconds, 3 minutes or 3 hours if you want! The goal is simply to do what it says whenever you see the message and even the act of making a point to notice the magnet (sometimes it helps to move it around to different spaces every now and then) increases our mindfulness. Some of the original, handpainted sets are currently available in my shop - check back to see the new and improved designs added soon.
